Mainz were held to 1-1 draw by Hertha down on Monday at the OPEL Arena. Mainz were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Bayern Munich at home and Werder Bremen away, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. Hertha secured a point against Borussia Mönchengladbach in their previous match. As it stands, Mainz are in 12th place on the table and has 35 points while Hertha sit in 16th with 27 points after 29 matches.
Hertha started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Lucas Tousart finding the net, on 36 minutes. However, their lead was short lived, as Philipp Mwene equalised for Mainz just before half-time. The score at half time was 1-1. Both teams struggled to produce anything in the second half and the game ended 1-1.

There were bookings for Stefan Bell and Leandro Martins from Mainz, and Lucas Tousart, Matheus Cunha and Santiago Ascacibar, for Hertha.
Mainz will next play Eintracht Frankfurt away, with Hertha facing SC Freiburg at home.
